Dr. Ranjita Sengupta, MD

Board Member

Dr. Ranjita Sengupta has practiced at Cardiology Associates of Somerset County since 2007 and is an attending physician at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She is a board-certified invasive cardiologist who performs cardiac catheterizations with a particular focus on women's cardiovascular health — she is the only female cardiologist in Somerset County offering this procedure. Her training emphasized advanced cardiac imaging, and she is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography, Cardiac CT, and Vascular Interpretation, and licensed to practice medicine and cardiology in New Jersey.

She earned her medical degree with honors from the University of Calcutta, completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut, and trained in cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Heart Institute in Houston — one of the nation's top-ranked cardiac centers — where she received the Van Reet Award for excellence in research, education, and leadership. Her research has appeared in numerous cardiology journals and earned recognition including a feature in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and repeated selection as one of "America's Top Cardiologists" by the Consumers Research Council of America. She has appeared in national media on cardiovascular disease and remains active in community heart-health outreach.

Gautam Kakar is a business and technology leader with over 25 years of experience in program and portfolio management, business transformation, technology consulting, analytics, and information management, helping organizations use data and innovation to drive strategic growth. He is also an entrepreneur, owning and leading the Success On The Spectrum franchise in Freehold, New Jersey, which provides ABA, speech, occupational, and social-skills services for children and families — giving him hands-on experience in business operations, team leadership, and mission-driven service delivery.

A graduate of NYU (MS, MIS and Marketing) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Gautam brings expertise in strategic planning, program governance, digital transformation, and cross-functional leadership, with a growing focus on Generative AI's impact on education and the workforce. As a Board Member of University & Beyond, he contributes his experience in business strategy, technology, and entrepreneurship to help advance the organization's mission of preparing students for college, careers, and the future.
